First ESM User Forum at FZJ: Training for the JUWELS supercomputer

Participants to the ESM User Forum at Jülich Supercomputing Centre.

On the 6th and 7th of February 2019 the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) organised the first “ESM user forum”. This training course series is specifically tailored to the interests and needs of the ESM community and provides an overview of current developments at JSC related to the JUWELS system. Its intention is to give users the opportunity to discuss their specific issues and challenges on the HPC systems. This time we addressed emerging topics like programming for GPUs, modular supercomputing, and data sharing services. During the hand-on sessions, both new and more experienced users of JUWELS could raise their individual issues to members of the JSC Simulation Laboratories “Climate Science” and “Terrestrial Systems”. A total of 13 participants from the different Helmholtz Centers took the opportunity to get deeper insight into JUWELS and the Jülich HPC environment.
